EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation PPWR: considering requirements for packaging films

If films are used as packaging for the transport, protection or shipping of products, requirements from the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, PPWR, may become relevant. The decisive factor is not the material alone, but the intended purpose of the product as packaging.

The PPWR has applied in principle since 12 August 2026 and introduces new requirements for packaging, recyclability, recycled content, documentation and the reduction of packaging waste.
