Reliably meeting sustainability requirements and industry standards
Sustainability requirements, certifications and regulatory requirements are becoming ever more important in sourcing bags, sacks, pouches and films. packconsult factors these requirements into supplier selection, product specification and order handling early on.
In doing so, we combine our experience in the international PE film business with direct alignment with suitable partner factories in the sourcing markets. This means relevant requirements can be checked and factored into delivery even before production begins.
Taking requirements, certifications and standards into account
Depending on the product, material and field of application, different sustainability requirements, certifications and industry standards may be relevant. These include, for example, requirements for recycled content, material origin, production conditions, documentation or specific certifications.
packconsult supports the alignment with the partner factories and assesses which requirements are relevant for your sourcing project. These can include certifications and standards such as Blauer Engel (German Blue Angel ecolabel), GRS, BSCI, Sedex or ISO standards. When new sustainability requirements have to be met, an adjustment of material, finish or product specification can also make sense.
Factoring in PPWR requirements for packaging early
The EU Packaging Regulation PPWR, short for Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, entered into force on 11 February 2025 and generally applies from 12 August 2026. It brings new requirements for packaging, recyclability, recycled content, documentation and the prevention of packaging waste. For companies sourcing bags, sacks, pouches or films, it therefore makes sense to factor PPWR-relevant requirements into material selection, product specification and supplier alignment early on.
packconsult supports the clarification of which PPWR requirements may be relevant for your sourcing project and which materials, product finishes or partner factories are an option for them. In doing so, we consider technical requirements, sustainability goals, availability and economic feasibility together.
Supply chain requirements are taken into account
Alongside product-related sustainability requirements, requirements for transparent and traceable supply chains are also gaining importance. These include information on production partners, existing certifications, social standards, audit evidence and relevant documentation.
packconsult supports you in obtaining this information from the partner factories, classifying it and making it available for your sourcing project. This means requirements from internal purchasing policies, customer specifications or supply-chain due-diligence obligations can be taken into account early. A visit to production partners can create additional transparency in the supply chain.
Selecting suitable partner factories and materials
Before any cooperation, new partner factories are checked by packconsult for existing certifications, standards and general suitability. This is how we make sure the production partners fit the requirements of your product and your company.
At the same time, we stay in dialogue with established partner factories when it comes to the further development of sustainable product solutions. This concerns, for example, higher recycled content, the use of PCR or PIR materials or new material solutions for certain bag, sack or film types. For more on how packconsult selects suitable production partners and capacity, see Supplier and Capacity Selection.
Relevant for customer requirements, tenders and new regulations
Sustainability, compliance and certification requirements should be checked early on especially when your customers require certain evidence, when products with recycled content are to be sourced or when regulatory requirements such as the PPWR have to be taken into account.
For tenders, new product specifications, sustainability goals or the conversion of existing products, too, structured alignment helps to clarify requirements early and to assess suitable production possibilities.
Transparency for your sustainable sourcing
You gain more clarity about which materials, certifications and production partners are an option for your sourcing project. At the same time, relevant requirements are not checked only at the end but factored into product specification, supplier selection and order handling early on.
In this way, packconsult supports more sustainable and better-documented sourcing, without losing sight of technical requirements, quality and economic feasibility.
